Getting Started
What is MedNext?
MedNext is a platform built by NHS doctors with three products: Academy (medical education and exam prep in 39 languages), Portfolio (UK specialty training applications for all 82 specialties), and Formulary (clinical drug reference with 2,866 drugs on iOS and Android). Each product works independently — use whichever fits your needs.
How do I get started with MedNext Portfolio?
Visit the Portfolio page, browse the 82 UK specialties, and find your target route. Each specialty page shows scoring criteria, eligibility requirements, key dates, and self-assessment guidance — all free to access. To use evidence workflows and export features, create a free account.
How do I download MedNext Formulary?
MedNext Formulary is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store. Search for 'MedNext Formulary' or visit our Formulary page for direct download links. You get 7 days of full Pro access free — no credit card required.
How do I access MedNext Academy?
MedNext Academy is available at mednext.academy. Create a free account to access courses, MCQ question banks, and clinical reasoning modules. Academy supports 39 languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, Arabic, and more.
MedNext Portfolio
What specialties does Portfolio cover?
Portfolio covers all 82 UK specialty training routes for the 2026 recruitment cycle — including Core Surgical Training, Core Medical Training, Clinical Radiology, Psychiatry, GP, Urology, Cardiology, and every other HEE-listed route. Each specialty has its own scoring criteria, eligibility requirements, and self-assessment guidance.
How does the self-assessment scoring work?
Each scored specialty route has a set of questions or criteria. Portfolio shows you the maximum points for each section, so you can score yourself against the official criteria before you apply. This helps you identify gaps early and target your training to maximise your application score.
What is Oriel-ready export?
When you apply for specialty training, you upload evidence through Oriel (the NHS recruitment portal). Portfolio packages your evidence into correctly-ordered PDFs that match the expected format — one file per scored question, with title pages, index pages, and the right file sizes. This saves hours of formatting on application day.
Is the specialty information up to date?
Our specialty data is derived from official 2026 NHS person specifications, self-assessment guidance documents, and recruitment pages. We link to the original source documents on each specialty page so you can verify. Always check the original guidance before your application.
MedNext Formulary
How does the drug interaction checker work?
Select two or more drugs, and MedNext checks them against our database of 14,676 known interactions. Results include severity ratings and clinical significance. For complex cases, our AI analyses the interactions in context.
Can I use Formulary offline?
Yes, partially. The last 5 drugs you viewed are cached on your device for 24 hours. Full search, interaction checking, and AI features require an internet connection.
How accurate is the drug information?
Every drug monograph is compiled from the MedNext Audited Proprietary Clinical Dataset — a curated, internally maintained pharmacological reference. All entries are reviewed by a clinician before publication. Content is cross-referenced against multiple authoritative pharmacological sources and updated on a continuous basis.
What languages are supported?
MedNext supports 40 languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, Arabic, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and many more. RTL languages (Arabic, Urdu, Persian, Hebrew) are fully supported.
MedNext Academy
What exams can I prepare for with Academy?
Academy covers a wide range of medical exams including NEET PG, NMC OSCE, MRCP Part 1 and 2, MRCS, FRCR, PACES, and UK medical school finals. The 10,000+ question bank spans medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics, and subspecialties.
What are clinical reasoning modules?
Clinical reasoning modules walk you through real-world clinical scenarios — from taking a history through ordering investigations to reaching a diagnosis and management plan. They develop the diagnostic thinking that both written exams and clinical practice demand.
Subscriptions & Billing
How do I upgrade my subscription?

How do I cancel my subscription?

Can I get a refund?
Refund requests for app subscriptions are handled by Google Play or the App Store per their respective refund policies. Contact their support teams directly.
Privacy & Security
Do you store patient data?
Never. MedNext is a medical education and reference platform — not an electronic health record. We never collect, store, or process any patient data. Your search queries are hashed and anonymised.
How is my data protected?
We use AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.3 for all data transmission, device binding to prevent unauthorised access, and zero-trust session management. For data protection enquiries, contact privacy@mednext.uk.
